Create your first project
Start a new VisionPlan project from the project list and open it for drawing.
A project is where one job lives — walls, fixtures, openings, dimensions, and any extra rooms that belong to the same scope. Make a new project whenever you start a new bathroom reno, basement layout, kitchen, or whole-home plan.
Before you start
The first time you open VisionPlan, you pick Customer or Contractor on the mode selection screen. Pick whichever fits how you'll use the app — you can change it later. See Customer vs Contractor mode for the difference.
Steps
- Open the project list. This is the screen you land on after the mode selection screen, and you can return to it any time from the editor app bar.
- Tap New Project. On every screen size this is the + New Project pill button in the bottom right of the project list. On desktop, the empty-state card also shows a New Project button when you don't have any projects yet.
- Fill in the Project Name — for example,
Smith bathroom renoor123 Oak St basement. - Fill in the Customer Name — the homeowner's name on a contractor job, or your own name when you're laying out your own space.
- Pick a Job Type from the list (General Reno, Kitchen Reno, Bathroom Reno, Basement Reno, Flooring, New Build, Addition, Commercial, or Other).
- Tap Create. The project opens straight into the editor with a single empty room ready for walls.
Tips
- If you're signed in to the Construction Network as a contractor, your phone and email pre-fill from your network profile — no retyping per job.
- Every project starts with one room called Room 1. Rename it from the rooms bar below the app bar. Add more rooms for multi-room scopes like a whole home or a reno that spans two spaces.
- Projects autosave as you work, so there's no "save and close" step. Close the tab when you're done and the project will be waiting in the list next time.
