Pan, zoom, and center the canvas

Move around your floor plan with pan, zoom, and the Center Canvas shortcut.

The canvas is the workspace where you draw. You'll pan to move around, zoom to work on detail, and use Center Canvas to fit the whole plan back into view when you get lost. These three moves are the navigation kit every other tool sits on top of.

Pan the canvas

  • Desktop: Pick the Pan tool (H) from the left toolbar, then drag the canvas. The Pan tool is a dedicated mode — keystroke H is the fastest way in, S or V gets you back to Select.
  • Mobile: With the Select tool active, drag with one finger. Mobile Select always pans — it never drags an object. Use the Move tool when you need to drag a wall or fixture.

Zoom in and out

  • Desktop: Scroll the mouse wheel over the canvas. Zoom centers on the cursor.
  • Mobile: Pinch with two fingers.

Center Canvas (fit-to-screen)

When the plan drifts off-screen or you've zoomed in too far, Center Canvas fits the whole drawing back into the viewport.

  • Desktop: Tap the Center Canvas icon (target/crosshair) in the editor app bar, or press 0, numpad 0, or Home.
  • Mobile: Long-press on empty canvas and pick Center Canvas from the menu. The app-bar button isn't shown on phones — the long-press menu is the mobile path.

Tips

  • VisionPlan never auto-zooms or auto-centers in response to your edits. The viewport only moves when you pan, zoom, or tap Center Canvas.
  • Each project remembers its last pan and zoom. When you reopen a project, you land back where you left off.
  • Press Esc to cancel a draw or close a menu without losing your viewport position.
