Customer vs Contractor mode

Pick the app mode that matches how you'll use VisionPlan, and switch between them later.

VisionPlan runs in one of two modes: Customer or Contractor. The mode you pick changes which fields show up on projects, how the print title block reads, and a few defaults across the app. You pick a mode on first launch and can switch later from Settings.

What each mode is for

Customer mode is for homeowners and end-users sketching their own space. Project create asks for your info. The print title block uses Show my info on print. The mode is a lighter footprint — fewer business-specific fields surfaced by default.

Contractor mode is for trades and builders drawing for clients. Project create asks for the customer's info. The print title block uses Show business info on print and pulls your business name, phone, license, and logo into the bottom of every printed page.

How to switch modes

  1. Open Settings from the editor app bar.
  2. Tap the App Mode section at the top.
  3. Pick Customer or Contractor.

Each mode keeps its own editor settings, so changes you make to snapping, units, or autosave in one mode don't bleed into the other.

Mode badge in the app bar

The current mode shows as a small badge next to the app title on both the editor and project list. Tap it to open a quick-switch menu — pick Customer or Contractor to switch modes immediately without leaving the screen you're on.

Locked-to-Contractor case

If you're signed in to the Construction Network as a verified contractor, the mode is locked to Contractor. In Settings, the mode picker is replaced with a locked-mode chip that reads "Contractor mode — Locked while signed in to the Construction Network." You don't need to set the mode manually — your network sign-in keeps it correct.

Tips

  • The mode you pick on first launch isn't permanent — try one, draw a project, and switch if the other fits better.
  • If you do quoted work for clients but also lay out your own home, run Contractor mode for client jobs and switch to Customer mode for personal projects so the title block stays clean either way.
