Wall properties
Every field on the wall edit panel — name, length, angle, thickness, height, exterior, existing — and what each controls.
Select a wall to see its properties. On desktop, properties live in the right-rail entity panel. On phones and tablets, you get a compact bottom bar with length + delete, and the full property list is one tap further behind the Properties entry on the long-press menu (or the entity info FAB at bottom-right). This page lists every field with what it changes.
Wall Properties section
| Field | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Name | Free-text label for the wall. Empty defaults to Wall N where N is the wall's position in the room's wall list. Used in the entity panel header and in print legends. |
| Length | Distance between the wall's two endpoints. Edit this to resize the wall — see the direction note below. |
| Angle | Read-only. The wall's current angle in degrees, measured from horizontal. Updates when you drag an endpoint. |
| Thickness | Wall thickness in your project's unit system. Default 4.5" (114.3 mm) — the typical 2x4 + drywall finish thickness for interior residential walls. Sets the line weight on the plan and the wall volume in the 3D viewer. |
| Height | Wall height above the floor, in your project's unit system. Blank inherits the room's ceiling height (default 8' / 2438.4 mm). Override per-wall for partial walls or knee walls. |
| Exterior Wall | Toggle. ON means the wall is part of the building envelope. Exterior walls render heavier than interior partitions on the plan. Default ON. |
| Existing | Toggle. ON marks the wall as existing construction (vs. new). Existing walls render at reduced opacity and are flagged in the print legend. Default OFF — most projects start by drawing the new scope first and flag existing walls after. |
Editing the length
Typing in the Length field doesn't apply on its own — walls have two endpoints, so the panel needs to know which end to move.
Desktop: type the new length, then click one of the two direction buttons below the field. Labels read Left / Right for horizontal walls and Up / Down for vertical walls. The button you pick stays anchored; the other moves to make the new length.
Mobile: tap the Length value to open a dedicated dialog. The mobile dialog uses arrow glyphs — ← Left / Right → for horizontal walls and ↑ Up / Down ↓ for vertical — so the direction is easier to read at a glance on a small screen. The dialog asks for the new length and the anchor direction in one step.
Angle field
The Angle row is read-only and shows the wall's current angle measured from the canvas's positive X-axis. To re-angle a wall, drag an endpoint instead. There's no typed-angle input in v1.
Delete Wall
A Delete Wall button sits at the bottom of the panel. It honours multi-selection — if you've selected several entities, delete removes the entire group as one undo step (Ctrl+Z restores the full set together).
Per-wall vs. per-room height
The Height field overrides only this one wall. To change the ceiling height for the whole room, edit it in the room properties panel. When the per-wall override is blank, the plan and 3D viewer both use the room's ceiling height.
Tips
- The Existing toggle is the right flag for renovations where you're documenting what's already there before drawing new walls on top.
- Wall thickness can be set per-wall, but the new-wall default lives in Settings → Drawing → Default Wall Thickness. Change that once and every subsequent wall picks up the new default.
- The Name field is most useful in print legends — a wall labelled South wall reads better in a callout than Wall 7.
- On mobile the bottom edit bar is intentionally compact — length, apply direction, and delete only. Tap the entity-info button (bottom-right) or the long-press menu's Properties entry to get the full property list shown above.
